A stainless steel herb keeper for the potted herbs you bring home from the grocery store, so a pot of basil or parsley keeps going on the counter instead of wilting within days. Set the plant inside just as it is, with no replanting, fill the base through the spout, and it waters itself.
Cole & Mason's Burwell herb keepers work on a simple wick. A hydro felt pad sits under a retaining arm and draws water up from the base to the plant, much as damp soil would, which helps keep the leaves from drooping. Soft herbs such as basil, parsley, coriander, mint and dill do especially well, and hardier rosemary and thyme are happy too. Each pad lasts about a month, and spare pads are sold separately.
Use & care: wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly; do not submerge it in water or put it in the dishwasher, which can spoil the finish. Check the water level regularly and top it up, since the plant drinks steadily, and change the felt pad roughly once a month.
