Hario V60 02 Ceramic Coffee Dripper Juniper

A pour-over cone in Juniper, a deep forest green glaze that brings a bit of colour to the morning routine. It is the 02 size V60, brewing one to four cups straight into a mug or a server, at about 140 mm across and 102 mm tall. A good choice for a coffee lover who already has the basics and would like a dripper that looks as good on the counter as it brews.

The V60 takes its name from the 60-degree angle of its cone. Spiral ribs run up the inside wall so air can escape and the grounds can bloom and expand, and a single large hole at the bottom means the flow is set by your pour rather than by the dripper: pour quickly for a lighter, cleaner cup or slowly for more body. This one is Arita-yaki porcelain, made in Japan in a ceramic tradition with a 400-year history, and it holds heat well through the brew. It takes V60 02 paper filters.

Use & care: rinse the paper filter and warm the dripper with hot water before each brew so the porcelain does not pull heat from the coffee. It is dishwasher safe, or wash by hand with warm soapy water and dry. Porcelain can chip if it is knocked against a hard sink, so set it down gently. If coffee oils leave a brown film in the ribs, a soak in warm water with a spoonful of baking soda lifts it.
