A clear glass V60 cone set in Hario's new oval base, in black. The holder is shaped as an open oval, so you can look down past the dripper and see exactly how full your mug or server is getting as you pour. It is the 02 size for one to four cups, about 138 mm wide and 95 mm tall, and it lets you watch the coffee bed draw down through the glass.
The V60 takes its name from the 60-degree angle of its cone. Spiral ribs run up the inside wall so air can escape and the grounds can bloom and expand, and a single large hole at the bottom means the flow is set by your pour rather than by the dripper: pour quickly for a lighter, cleaner cup or slowly for more body. This one is heatproof borosilicate glass on a polypropylene holder, made in Japan. It takes V60 02 paper filters.
Use & care: rinse the paper filter with hot water before brewing. The dripper is hot water and dishwasher safe; it is not for use in the microwave, in the oven or over an open flame. If coffee oils leave a brown film in the ribs, a soak in warm water with a spoonful of baking soda lifts it.
