Hyakurakukou is Kousaido's everyday incense line. Forty slim sticks arrive in a slide box with a small holder tucked inside, so nothing else is needed to start. Each stick burns for roughly 25 minutes. Natural sandalwood that is warm, creamy and quietly woody.
Every Kousaido incense is blended and pressed in Kyoto, where Japanese incense making has been centred since the craft was formalised in the Muromachi period. These are kneaded sticks rather than dipped blanks — aromatic woods and botanicals are ground, bound and extruded together, so the fragrance runs through the whole stick and holds its character from first light to last ash.
Use & care: Light the tip, let the flame catch, then blow it out so the ember glows. Stand the stick in a holder set on a heatproof dish and burn away from draughts, which make a stick burn fast and unevenly. Keep the box closed in a cool, dry place — incense holds its fragrance for years but fades once left open. Never leave a burning stick unattended.
