Their story →The Shun Classic 8-Piece Epicurean Knife Block Set assembles the core of the Classic line into one complete kitchen foundation, covering daily prep from paring and utility work through chopping, bread, and carving, with the tools to keep every edge maintained.
Each knife features Shun's proprietary VG-MAX cutting core, wear resistant, corrosion resistant, and fine grained enough to take a razor sharp 16 degree edge on each side. The core is clad in 34 layers of stainless Damascus per side, 68 in total, which support the blade, add stain resistance, and help food release. D-shaped ebony PakkaWood handles are comfortable for left and right handed cooks alike, and the set stores safely in a bamboo knife block. Handcrafted in Japan and built to serve a kitchen for decades.
